The team has just held it's alumni game. Music played while players stretched and warmed up. It was a rough start for the current team, but they soon took control over the game. The game ended with a win, for the current team, in overtime 6 to 5. The two teams joined each other in "Bearkat Alley" to tailgate for the 2pm football game. Recreation Sports provided food and drinks for all the players which was much appreciated. The players shared stories and future aspirations for the program all day. The team raised over $2,000 in donations. The next alumni game will be much larger and even better since this was some what short notice. There was over 30 alumni in attendance ranging from the 80's to last year's graduates. We are all looking forward to the next get together.

Today Sam Houston State men's lacrosse had been admitted into the Lone Star Alliance. We will be playing in division B along with; Austin College, Southwestern University, St. Edward's University, St. Edward's, Trinity University, University of Texas - Arlington, Stephen F. Austin, and University of Texas - San Antonio. This is a great accomplishment for the team. Sam Houston men's lacrosse had appeared in the LSA championship, formally Southwest Lacrosse Association, three times in 1983, 1984, and 1986. This winning tradition will carry on throughout the team's history.

The first in awhile alumni game is scheduled for October 20th at Intramural Field 2 at 10am. Shirts will be sold at the game with the proceeds going to the team. Donations will also be accepted. Proceeds will go to league, referee, and other fees encountered throughout the season. Contact Lance Mitchell, if you have not, if you intend to play. After the game, players will celebrate then go to the homecoming football game at 2pm. This event will be a great time for both current and alumni players to interact and get to know each other.

The first practice of the Fall is scheduled for September 11. We are in the process of setting up an Alumni game for October 20 which is also homecoming. We are trying to have it early so we can catch the football game at 2pm. Also in the works is a scrimmage with Rice for October 28. We are also planning on attending the Texas A&M Fall Classic tournament November 3-4.
